What a glorious day we had today! I'm so glad my friend Amy had the idea to go to the Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens today with all our kids, it was such a wonderful day and did not cost a cent! We all arrived at about 11am and found our way to the information kiosk to get the map so that the kids could do the "Hide and Seek Kids Trail."

Amy's kids - Bella and Ryan and my kids - Jacob, Ava and Lucas (in the pram) |
At first my kids (Jacob and Ava) weren't too keen, they didn't want to walk and we thought we were going to have to go back to the car to get the second seat attachment for the pram and the baby bjorn so that none of them had to walk, but then once we got to the start of the trail, they forgot all about it and were quite happy to go exploring - thank God!! We had lots of fun finding all the special creatures/trees/plants etc, all were numbered so we knew when we were in the right place. Then we stopped for lunch at the bandstand. We had brought some fruit and Amy had made sandwiches so we set up our mats and had a lovely picnic. It was all a bit much for Amy's youngest, Ryan and my youngest, Lucas and they both got a bit upset as they were very tired, but they both rested in their prams once we got moving again. We found the rest of the numbers along the trail and then it was time to go home.

We had a wonderful day and I would recommend it to anyone who has kids, it is a perfect way to get out and about, fun for everyone and best of all - FREE!
